On May 17, 2009 we
threw our first Viva Los Muertos festival which we plan on making an annual music,
art and performance festival and hopefully tour in the future. It was held at
the Mod Club in Toronto and spectators were invited to have their faces painted
and to contribute to the ``Skull Wall``, a communal art piece that is becoming a
tradition at Playdead events.
The musical entertainment segment of the night started out with one of our local faves, Purrr. They definitely won over many new fans that night with their groovey rave rock set.. Up next was Stu Dead`s own band, A.P.E. performing in the sexy roll `n roll way that they do. Of course they were getting into the festivities with faces painted Dia de los Muertos style. Closing the night was The Birthday Massacre`s energetic set fronted by the adorably creepy, Chibi!
